So Shall Be the Fate of All Traitors

I'll be the first to write it. I am not upset that Sharon suffered a major stroke. In fact, in some sense, I am happy.

The man is evil. Rabin and Netanyahu were wishy washy. They often appeared uncomfortable with or unsure about the peace process, and, at times, continued with the process because of apparent external pressure. Sharon is different. He carried out the disengagement out of conviction. Whatever his past history (and if one investigates that past history, he is liable to find some skeletons there as well), the man has acted evily these past four years. More Jews have died under his watch than under any other prime minister governing during times of "peace." And this past summer, he orchestrated one of the biggest chillul Hashems in recent history.

I don't think his death or his incapicitation will make any significant political difference (whoever suceeds him will continue to lead Israel to its doom, the only question being how fast). However, his stroke will be a lesson to all those who dare G-d and defy His will that G-d does not suffer the desecration of His name in silence; He meets out justice.

We know G-d is just. However, His justice is not always apparent. Tonight marks a night that justice was served . Tonight is a night where man can perceive that there is a G-d in the world. Tonight is a night of kiddush Hashem.
